Man dies after jumping off a vehicle

A 27-year-old man from Chiradzulu district died after jumping off from a cruising vehicle which was driving him to a near-by Police Unit.

The deceased, Chikumbutso Willie, who hailed from Mitepa village, Traditional Authority Mpama is alleged to have been caught stealing.

Deputy Police Publicist for the Southern Region, Beatrice Bwanali told MIJ FM that the deceased was being taken to Namadzi to Police Station after he was arrested by members of the community Police in his area.

Although members of the community Police had tied Willie’s hands to prevent him from escaping Bwanali said the deceased managed to jump from the vehicle and died instantly.

Meanwhile, the body has been taken to Chiradzulu District Hospital for post-mortem.
